Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Manager, Quality  
The Manager, Quality is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient processing of materials within incineration operations. This role oversees the technical evaluation of incoming waste streams, supporting operational decision-making, and ensures adherence to regulatory and internal quality standards.  

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Develops, implements, and maintains the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 requirements 
  • Leads a team of manifest compliance coordinators tasked with waste manifest check-ins of bulk and containerized waste onsite 
  • Reviews and evaluates laboratory analytical data for incoming drum deliveries to determine proper handling, treatment, and incineration pathways; ensures all materials meet facility acceptance criteria and regulatory requirements prior to processing
  • Identifies, investigates, and resolves discrepancies related to waste deliveries, including mismatches in documentation, labeling, or composition and collaborates with internal teams and customers to ensure accurate waste characterization and compliance
  • Evaluates eligible waste streams for incineration based on technical assessments, ensuring safe and efficient throughput while maintaining environmental and safety standards 
  • Participates as part of the Technical Review Team, providing guidance on complex waste profiles, analytical interpretation, and operational decision-making; facilitates discussions and ensures timely resolution of technical issues 
  • Establishes laboratory testing priorities to support operational needs, turnaround times, and compliance requirements; coordinates closely with lab personnel to optimize workflows and responsiveness
  • Performs waste profile changes as needed, ensuring all updates are accurately documented and communicated across relevant systems and departments
  • Oversees container relabeling activities to ensure proper identification, hazard communication, and regulatory compliance for all waste containers
  • Provides backup support for the scheduler/planner during absences, ensuring continuity in scheduling, waste acceptance planning, and coordination of processing activities
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives, compliance audits, records management and document control procedures  
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or related science field (required)

Experience

  • 3+ years of onsite experience with waste profiling, waste analysis and waste processing (required)  
  • Proven, hands-on experience managing an ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System and/or internal audit experience (preferred)
